A dynamic running warm up is a series of movements designed to increase body temperature, activate the nervous system, increase range of motion, and correct limitations. The dynamic warm up is going to increase your performance if you do it correctly.
Dynamic stretching before a workout
There are some BIG benefits to dynamic stretching, which is an excellent full body warm up before any type of intense activity whether you’re about to play sports, or lift weights. Just about every athletic team in the country from little league to professional sports performs dynamic stretching before exercising.
This running warm up is great for any workout that involves the legs, whether it’s a running session or squatting at the gym.
The Warm up:
- 1/4 mile at a slow pace
- 10 shoulder rotations
- 10 Squats
- 10 Lunges (each leg)
- 20 seconds of Butt Kickers
- 10 Leg Swings (each leg)
- 40 seconds of Frankenstein Walking
