FA Engineered Nutrition are a UK based company. We’ve not heard of them before, but they have a range of products available across various online retailers and most products, especially their high protein nut butter have good reviews. From first impression, this pre-workout looks pretty good. Containing a solid blend of ingredients that will certainly contribute to a heavy workout.
Core Ingredients
This product contains some of the best pre-workout ingredients possible. But, there are also a few in here that aren’t going to give you much to add to any session. Annoyingly there’s also a large dose of Beta Alanine. This generally leads to side effects, especially if you were to double scoop. Whilst it’s common in the lifting community for the side effects to be classed as this particular amino acid working, it’s often very distracting. There is a big profile of minerals and smaller amino acids in here. Which is good, but these ingredients won’t provide an initial boom of energy you’d normally associate with a pre-workout. Other core ingredients include:
Whilst it’s common in the lifting community for the side effects to be classed as this particular amino acid working, it’s often very distracting. There is a big profile of minerals and smaller amino acids in here. Which is good, but these ingredients won’t provide an initial boom of energy you’d normally associate with a pre-workout. Other core ingredients include:
Vitamin C, B6,B12
All vitamins that directly contribute to energy levels. The B-vitamins in particular allow faster absorption of energy from food. Meaning you will be staying fuelled for longer throughout your workout.
Citrulline Malate
Gets you a PUMP. This increases the efficiency of the ammonia recycling process in the blood, and also the nitric oxide metabolism. By doing this you are getting more oxygen to flow through your veins and to your muscles, helping them increase their workload. Not to mention looking vascular.
L-Leucine
An amino acid, and a good addition to a pre-workout as it is actually the main BCAA for bodybuilders. This is because Leuicine is the most potent amino acid at inducing protein synthesis, or, feeding the muscles.
Arginine
This ingredient is supposedly converted to citrulline in the liver. The problem with Arginine is that it’s wasted as the body hasn’t been shown to do it very effectively and a large proportion will be wasted in your liver, not giving you the full benefits. It should expand blood vessels by relaxing the muscles of their walls, increasing blood flow.
Dose
You get a fair dose of all the main ingredients in this product. Double scooping is probably going to be preferable though to get a decent effect before you start working out. It’s also worth noting that caffeine isn’t present in the product, for us this is a crucial element for any pre-workout and something you should be looking out for.
What’s the Cost?
The cheapest we found this product for was £34.73 from bodybuilding.com. This is too expensive for a product with an ingredients profile so under dosed. You’ll get far more results, and a better product for paying this price. Check out our top 3 supplements for premium pre-workouts worth the money.
