Eat The Bear Bare Energy Pre Workout Review

Eat the Bear are a US based supplements company who are growing pretty rapidly. They have a full range of quality supplements and Bare Energy is their latest pre-workout product. The product itself promises you energy, focus, power and pump, with a full dose of citrulline with a 2 scoop dose. We like Eat The Bear and have seen good results from other products, so let’s see if Bare Energy is worth adding to your stack.

Core Ingredients

The ingredients list in Eat the Bear, Bare Energy is very much focused on that pump. With a big dose of citrulline and beta-alanine stealing the show for the pump. For energy you have caffeine, at a fairly high dose. Finally for mental focus you have Alpha GPC, a choliogenic compound used to improve cognition. Lets take a closer look at the ingredients list and see what benefits you will get from this pre.

Citrullinebare-energy-ingredients-list

Citrulline is a great addition to any pre-workout. This ingredient improves the ammonia recycling process in the blood and nitric oxide metabolism. Basically, you are going to get a big vascular pump. The dose is half a daily dose. To get 6000mg you’d need to double scoop, which could be a little too much for some people as this would mean the caffeine intake would be 400mg.

Beta-Alanine

Beta-alanine is an amino acid. Generally used in supplements to help increase protein synthesis and improve muscle performance this ingredient is a little hit and miss. The problem with this ingredient is that it can cause itching and flushing. Whilst it may not be too bad at lower doses, it can often be very overbearing and distract you from the really focus. Working out.

Choline Bitartrate

This works similarly to the B vitamins. Or theoretically does. Choline should help improve fatigue and athletic performance. However scientific studies have shown that supplementing choline by mouth has no real benefits. Annoying!

Potassium Citrate

Potassium citrate is an ingredient that has been used for years, especially by hardcore bodybuilders.  It does appear to enhance athletic performance in athletes, but the ingredient can lead to some bad side effects in people with certain conditions.

Caffeine

A go to stimulant and one that’s proven and safe, a solid addition to Bare Energy.  The amount of caffeine in this product is also pretty good, at 200mg. It might be a little overbearing for those looking to get the full effect of citrulline though and double scooping as 400mg is a lot to have in one go. This is purely down to individual tolerance though!

Alpha GPCA

This is in here as a cognitive enhancer, providing you with focus. There is no human trial evidence to actually support this ingredient fulfilling this role though. Another interesting use though is that it may support growth hormone. Studies are yet to actually prove this, but it looks fairly likely.

L-Carnitine

L-carnitine is an amino acid that is naturally produced in the human body. It’s thought that L-carnitine can have some benefits to athletic performance, however the only studies to prove this have actually been conducted on elderly people. Intense exercise has shown to decrease l-carnitine levels in the blood, but again supplementing is shown to have no major benefits at this stage.

Theacrine

Is a form of stimulant not too dissimilar to caffeine. Research suggests that it can improve mental performance and also decrease fatigue levels. We’d say this ingredient is pretty important for any pre-workout supplement that promises improved focus.

Dose

The dose of Bare Energy is pretty good. The caffeine is on the right side of 200mg, however the citrulline in a single scoop is a little low. We do like this product though and it does get some solid pre-workout ingredients.

What’s the Cost?

The cost of Eat the Bear, Bare Energy is $65.00. This is pretty expensive. The ingredients profile could be fine tuned and a little better for the money you are paying. We are sure it will do the job, but there is better products out there for a similar price.

Eat The Bear Bare Energy Pre Workout Review Conclusion

We like this product. We know you’ll get some good results from it and Eat the Bear are a reputable company too. One thing though is the price. You are paying a lot for something that slightly underdoses the citrulline in a single scoop and also wastes a bit of room with beta-alanine. Check out our current number one for a slightly better pre-workout supplement.

Summary

A good pre-workout made by a good company. We do think there are better products out there for this sort of price, but they are few and far between. Our current number #1 pre-workout does just about top it, but it’s close.
